Registered Charity
Al Amal is a registered charity
AssalamuAlaikum,
My name is Faiz Riyas, and I’m excited to join forces with Al Amal International Charity this Winter to provide lifesaving winter aid to the vulnerable people of Palestine, Yemen and Refugee Camps.
Unlike you and I, these people do not have the luxury of blankets, warm clothes, shelter, or heaters. It breaks my heart that the season we all look forward to is also one that millions of people in these regions dread.
Allah’s Messenger SAW narrated:
“A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim who does not oppress him nor hand him over, and who is after the need of his brother, Allah will be after his need, and who relieves a Muslim from the plight of distress, Allah relieves him from one of the plights of distress of The Day of Resurrection, and who enshrouds a Muslim, Allah will cover him on The Day of Judgment”
[Sahih Al Bani 7988]
Therefore, it is our responsibility to come together and share our warmth with those who don’t have any.
Together we can turn this season of death for many to a season of joy, in sha Allah.
I look forward to your support on this important journey.
Chill In The Air, Fear In The Heart
As winter approaches, we envision cozy nights with hot cocoa and laughter around the fireplace… warm clothes, holiday gifts, and relaxing movie nights— there’s just so much to look forward to!
Yet, in this same world, during this same time of the year, millions of displaced refugees in Arsal Camps–and now in Gaza too, are fixated on one single thought as winter approaches: how will we survive?
Yes, that’s the current reality for thousands of poor, displaced, and affected families that are preparing for a harsh winter– only hoping for a piece of cloth to ward off the biting cold.
“I have only come with the clothes I am currently wearing, I have nothing prepared for the winter. I have no idea how I will protect myself from the long cold hours of the night.”
– Om Mahmoud Abu-Khdair, A mother in Gaza
These are the words of a displaced Gazan, and all of Gaza identifies with it right now.
After 61 days and 75 years of oppression and aggression, more than 1.8 million Gazans are now displaced. They have nowhere to go, nothing to eat, and no way to protect themselves from the harsh winter conditions of Gaza.
After about 2 months of carpet bombing in the region, there are now more than 100,000 buildings destroyed and more than 21,731 people killed— including 8,697 children and 4,410 women as well as those missing and trapped under the rubble who are now presumed dead.
4,016+ are severely injured, and there are no health facilities left to serve, so with the temperatures set to drop to about 9-10°C, and with the same clothes that they had when they fled their homes…
Their chances of survival are now nearing zero.
In Gaza,
✅ There are 2.2 million people, 50% of whom are children
✅ The Unemployment rate (before Oct 7) was 47%
✅ 80% of the population lives in poverty
✅ More than 1.8 million Gazans (80% of the population) are now displaced
Now, with the complete blockade and constant bombing, the situation has worsened more than ever before. The displaced Gazans are sleeping under open skies, seeking shelter in tents, and trying to survive with whatever little they can.
All of them left their homes with no belongings….
That means when winter comes, all of them will struggle to survive.
Already facing mass starvation, their bodies are not in any condition to withhold the storm in store for them— and many of these are infants!
The people of Gaza are entirely unprepared for winter— not in the slightest.
Imagine having to flee your home, trying to prove your humanity to the world, watching your home be turned to rubble, dealing with the grief of losing all your loved ones, having nothing to eat, having nothing left in the world that reminds you of a life that you used to have…
On top of all that, imagine if you have to also try to figure out how you will keep yourself and your loved ones alive through a season you once looked forward to — without resources or respite from the burdens of earlier struggles.
Renewed Tragedy in Arsal Camps
The Arsal Camps are spread across 9,000 tents and are home to 67,000 Palestinian refugees — it is already unbearably cramped, and the living conditions are hardly tolerable.
Imagine having to flee your country because of all the horror and bloodshed, and still not be able to live.
Within the Arsal camps, all refugees face extreme poverty, scarcity of resources, and lack of job opportunities. They may have escaped the war, but the struggle to survive has followed them.
For them, every necessity is a luxury— food, clean water, warm clothes, and more.
So, when winter approaches, they have nothing to shield themselves with except hope for a miracle.
At this time every year, the tragedy of thousands of refugees in Lebanon deepens further. The torrential rains and snows make winter a season of additional agony and added struggle.
What makes the situation of harsh weather an inescapable tragedy for them is the deteriorating conditions of their tents and the absence of anything that can potentially keep them warm. Every year, hundreds of thousands of vulnerable refugees in Arsal camps die due to the cold.
All of this means…
Families having to prepare themselves for death instead of winters,
Mothers and fathers being completely helpless against the cold, unable to shield their children or themselves from the biting frost,
Many, many children succumb to sub-zero temperatures— their fragile bodies clad in thin clothing are insufficient to ward off the harsh cold.
Their lives slow down to a standstill, so that they have to choose between heating and eating— no one should ever have to make such a dire decision.
And this is why we are putting these winter bags in your warm hands…so you can share some of your warmth with the refugees in Arsal camps.
In Yemen…
Yemen’s humanitarian needs surge year after year, and every year, winter worsens their plight.
Since 2011, Yemenis have been trapped in an endless loop of hunger, poverty, tragedy, and death. Right now, 60% of the population faces acute food insecurity and 55% of the population lives below the poverty line.
Yemen is facing the sixth largest internal displacement in the world, with more than 4.5 million displaced, and 21.6 million in dire need of humanitarian assistance and protection services.
Out of these 21.6 million, 11.3 million are children. Out of these 11.3 million, 500,000 under 5 suffer from acute malnutrition. Every 10 minutes, one of these children dies due to preventable causes.
In winter, all of these numbers increase drastically, and children suffer the most.
But these aren’t just numbers. These are real people, suffering in real time.
While tens of thousands of people around the world anticipate winter as a season of joy and happiness, the people of Yemen struggle to associate anything pleasant with this season.
The Ummah is Suffering…
And YOU Can Help!
Let’s put all of this into perspective:
Our Muslim brothers and sisters in Lebanon are fighting for survival. As temperatures drop drastically, and rainfalls and snowfalls become routine, they have no means to keep them warm.
Our Prophet SAW said,
“The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”
If we’re one body,
And the heart and the limbs are so severely wounded,
Can you go to sleep without first tending to the wounds?
As winter approaches, our brothers and sisters need our help more than ever before. Today, you can make sure that you take care of at least one of their biggest struggles: the cold.
The sooner we act, the more lives we can save.
Here’s everything you can help provide if you donate today:
✅ Heater (with all the accessories including battery)
✅ Heating materials (wood, pyrene, coal)
✅ Winter clothes (socks, warm clothes, blankets, etc.)
✅ Rain insulators
✅ Everything needed to stay warm and protected from the cold

FAQ
We deliver aid through trucks of winter clothing, clothes, and blankets through the Rafah crossing, in addition to food baskets. Right now, approximately 25 and 45 trucks enter Gaza daily. During the truce, 100 trucks entered each day.
During Winter, these are the things needed most by the people of Gaza, and the refugees in Arsal camps.
Every winter, Arsal camp refugees are forced to live without proper roofing and insulation and are exposed to harsh winter conditions, including subzero temperatures and flooding. Because of the poor infrastructure, heavy rains lead to flooding, while the rocky geography of Arsal town makes flood control strategies worthless. This year, millions of Gazans will face the same difficulties. To help them survive the cold, we are focusing on winter supplies.
