A Story of Unyielding Courage and Love

In the face of unimaginable hardship, Abu Ali has shown extraordinary strength and devotion to his family. Seven months ago, their lives were shattered when bombed their city of Idlib, Abu Ali’s quick thinking saved his wife and surviving son, but the family suffered devastating losses: two of their children were killed, and his wife and son were severely injured.

The Daily Struggle

Abu Ali now plays the roles of father, caretaker, and provider. He juggles household chores, cooking, teaching his son, and taking his wife and son to the hospital for daily physical therapy sessions.

Their home is on the third floor, and each day he must carry his wife and son down the stairs to a borrowed car. Despite his tireless efforts and low income, he remains steadfast in his commitment to his family.

 A Love Beyond Measure

When I first met Abu Ali, he shared with me a touching insight into his appearance. He keeps his hair and beard untrimmed, not out of neglect, but out of consideration for his wife’s feelings. He fears that grooming himself might make her think he plans to remarry. His wife, Umm Ali, described him as her everything—her brother, mother, father, and supporter. Her wish to see him marry again was met with a heartfelt refusal; Abu Ali vowed never to replace her, declaring his undying loyalty.

A Dream for the Future

Their son, Ali, dreams of completing his studies, getting a prosthetic limb, and one day becoming a specialist in prosthetics to help others like his mother and himself. This family’s resilience and love have inspired us to look beyond our own troubles and consider how we can help them.
