Concept of Waqf:

Waqf means preserving the capital and utilizing its benefits. It is considered a perpetual donation and ongoing charity that one dedicates in their lifetime and directs its proceeds towards charitable purposes and righteousness. Its reward continues as long as Allah wills, increasing the benefit and continuous reward for the endower, ensuring the continuity of spending on the designated purposes.

Waqf is the true charitable investment that one pays in this world to establish them in the Hereafter. Islam has encouraged Waqf to the extent that some scholars mentioned that none of the companions was without endowing something.

Allah the Almighty said: “O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous.” (Al-Baqarah 183).

And He said in describing the believers: “And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive.” (Al-Insan 8).

The Idea of the Fasting Person’s Iftar Waqf:

The idea of this Waqf relies on preserving the Waqf’s funds as capital, starting with a share of $300, investing the capital, and spending the Waqf’s proceeds on the purposes of this Waqf.

The Objective of the Fasting Person’s Iftar Waqf:

The objective of the “Fasting Person’s Iftar” Waqf is to create a permanent resource to contribute to supporting projects for iftar meals, feeding the hungry, and providing provisions for needy families during Ramadan.

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever feeds a fasting person will have a reward like that of the fasting person, without any reduction in his reward.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi).

The Prophet (peace be upon him), his noble companions, and their followers endowed generously, and Waqf has continued to our day.

Some of the early Muslims said: “For me to invite ten of my companions and feed them a meal they desire is dearer to me than freeing ten descendants of Isma’il.”

Through this Waqf, it becomes easy for every endower in the “Fasting Person’s Iftar” Waqf to contribute to annual projects of iftar meals, receiving the reward of the fasting person, charity of feeding, glorification of fasting, connection with people of obedience. Therein lies great reward, contributing to projects feeding the hungry, and distributing food supplies to needy families, thereby remembering poor Muslim brothers who do not have what they need, so one gives charity and kindness to them, besides being a means to alleviate hunger.

Uses of the Waqf:

  1. Projects for feeding fasting persons.
  2. Projects for organizing Ramadan meals and feeding the poor and needy.
  3. Projects for distributing food supplies to needy families during Ramadan.
